Installation of a Fence Using E-Z Base Brackets

For this project, we replaced an old wooden fence with a new, durable wooden one, spanning 81 feet in length. The key feature of this installation is the use of Simpson Strong-Tie E-Z Base fence post brackets, which are designed for mounting fence posts securely on concrete surfaces.

Step-by-Step Overview:

1. Removing the Old Fence:

Dismantled the previous wooden fence, ensuring all old materials were removed from the site.

2. Surface Preparation:

Cleaned and leveled the concrete area where the posts were to be installed. Any debris or uneven areas were removed to ensure proper installation.

3. Installing E-Z Base Brackets:

Positioned the E-Z Base brackets on the concrete base.

Used heavy-duty concrete screws and anchors to securely fasten the brackets to the concrete.

Ensured alignment and spacing between brackets to match the desired fence panel dimensions.

4. Attaching the Wooden Posts:

Inserted 4x4 wooden posts into the brackets, ensuring they were level and plumb.

Secured the posts using the pre-drilled holes in the brackets with screws designed for wood-to-metal fastening.

5. Building the Fence Panels:

Measured and cut wooden boards to the desired height and width.

Attached horizontal rails to the posts, creating the framework for the fence panels.

Installed vertical pickets for a classic and clean design.

6. Finishing Touches:

Sanded any rough edges on the wooden fence to ensure a smooth finish.

Applied a protective wood stain to enhance durability and aesthetic appeal, while also protecting the wood from weathering.

Benefits of E-Z Base Brackets:

Durability: The metal brackets provide a stable and corrosion-resistant base, extending the life of the fence.

Ease of Installation: No need to dig post holes or pour concrete; the brackets simplify the process while maintaining strength.

Adjustability: Brackets allow for precise alignment and adjustment during the installation process.

This method not only ensures a robust and long-lasting fence but also minimizes disruption to existing landscaping and concrete surfaces.
