Custom laundry and utility closet build-out in Los Angeles. The owner needed to fit an LG stacked washer/dryer, a tall Frigidaire standing freezer, and real pantry storage into one wall — with the appliances hidden behind doors and the whole wall reading as one piece of millwork.

Layout

Three columns, same door style and finish across all of them so the eye reads one continuous millwork run, not three separate boxes:

HVAC return

Two louvered vent panels keep air moving through the appliance bay — one at the top of the left column, one at the toe-kick. Both are painted to match the cabinet finish so they visually drop out.

Adjustable pantry shelving

The pantry column is built with adjustable shelves on pin holes drilled every inch or so down both sides of the carcass. For the shelves to sit flat and not rock, the pin holes have to line up exactly between left and right walls — we use a plywood jig with a stop block and a depth-collared bit, drilled from the same reference edge on every wall. The result is dead-level shelves at any height.

Finished build

Doors are painted in a warm cream — soft rather than stark white, so the room feels calm. Hardware is a brushed-metal cup-style pull in a matte finish, carried across all three columns for consistency. The LVP floor runs continuous through the closet with no transition strip, so the floor plane stays unbroken.
