Hi, I’m Alex — founder of ProHands

I hold a degree in engineering, a second degree in economics, and formal training in carpentry. With over 20 years of personal experience in construction and renovation — including residential and commercial building projects — I bring both technical expertise and practical know-how to every job.

We’re more than a one-man operation. ProHands is a skilled team of professionals with a combined experience of over 50 years across all major trades. That depth lets us take on projects of any size and complexity.

“When we walk into your home, we don’t just see the surface — we understand how the building works underneath. That’s why our repairs last.”
Our Story

Built around craft and accountability

Home Improvement by ProHands started with a simple observation: too many homeowners get stuck between projects that are too small for a general contractor and too big for DIY. These are exactly the projects where quality of workmanship matters most — and where it is often hardest to find a team that takes the work seriously.

Our background includes years of construction and finish work across a wide range of residential and commercial projects. That foundation informs how we approach every job in Los Angeles today — we understand how homes are built, not just how they look. This matters most when dealing with older LA housing stock: Craftsman bungalows, Spanish Revival homes, mid-century houses, and hillside properties each have their own quirks, and we adjust our approach to match what each home actually needs.

Today our focus is on higher-value repair, renovation, and finish work — fences and gates, interior remodels, painting, flooring, drywall restoration, finish carpentry, and cosmetic updates. We operate as a small, accountable team rather than a sales organization: no middlemen, no handoffs, no surprises on the invoice.

Where We Started

15+ years building real structures, from foundation to finish

Before launching ProHands in Los Angeles, our team spent over 15 years building residential homes and commercial & industrial structures from the ground up — managing every stage from foundation and steel framing to roofing, utilities, and finish work. That experience is the backbone of everything we do today.

What sets us apart

Construction-grade thinking, finish-carpentry execution

Before launching ProHands in Los Angeles, our team spent over 15 years building residential homes and commercial structures from the ground up — managing every stage from foundation and steel framing to roofing, utilities, and finish work.

Engineering-based approach

We diagnose problems at the structural level — not just patch what’s visible.

Workmanship warranty

12 months on labor for all major projects. We stand behind our work.

Same-day estimates

Send photos and a short description — most quotes back the same day.

Clean jobsites

Dust control, careful prep, daily cleanup. Your home stays liveable.

Direct lead-craftsman contact

You speak with the team that does the work — no call-center middleman.

Transparent pricing

Project-based written proposals. No surprise charges, no upsells.

Our Approach

How we handle every project

A consistent, simple process from the first message to the final walkthrough.

1

Listen First, Quote Second

Every estimate starts with understanding what you actually want — not what is easiest to sell. Questions come before quotes.

2

Written Scope & Price

No verbal agreements or vague estimates. You get a clear written proposal with scope, materials, timeline, and warranty before anything starts.

3

Prep Is Half the Job

The majority of a quality finish is the work that happens before the finish itself. Surfaces are properly prepped, protected, and primed.

4

Changes Through Change Orders

If the scope shifts during a project, you see the additional work and cost in writing before it happens. No verbal surprises.

5

Clean Site, Every Day

Work areas are cleaned up at the end of each day. Your home remains a home while we are there, not a construction zone.

6

Walkthrough Before Invoice

Final payment comes after a walkthrough where you confirm the work meets expectations. Punch-list items get addressed before the project is closed.
