This article covers the details behind one of our recent ceiling trim installations, how the process works, and why this upgrade can completely redefine a room.

What Is a Coffered Ceiling?

A coffered ceiling features a series of recessed panels framed by decorative trim, molding, or beams. This timeless architectural style not only adds depth and dimension, but also conveys a sense of elegance and craftsmanship.

Our project featured a custom layout using trim molding to frame rectangular and curved sections, with lighting pre-wiring integrated into the design for a seamless finish.

Why Upgrade Your Ceiling Trim?

✔️ Adds architectural interest to an otherwise flat ceiling
✔️ Creates a sense of structure and symmetry
✔️ Pairs beautifully with chandeliers or recessed lighting
✔️ Works well in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and offices
✔️ Increases home value and visual appeal

Project Overview: Step-by-Step Process

🔧 1. Planning & Design Layout
We worked closely with the client to map out the trim pattern, centering the design around a future chandelier placement. The layout included geometric panels and a central circular element for added elegance.

🪨 2. Precision Measuring & Marking
Every trim piece was custom cut to fit perfectly within the panel layout. We used laser levels to ensure all lines remained symmetrical and square.

🤝 3. Trim Installation
Using high-grade molding, we adhered each section with construction adhesive and reinforced with brad nails for long-lasting hold.

🎨 4. Seam Filling & Sanding
We filled all joints, seams, and nail holes with lightweight filler, followed by fine sanding for a flawless paint-ready finish.

🌟 5. Prepped for Lighting & Paint
Openings for recessed lights and center fixtures were left in place, and the entire ceiling was now ready for priming and final painting.
